Opportunities exist for work to be undertaken by volunteers at many of the Wildlife Trust reserves.
Here at Old Sulehay, much of the maintenance work is carried out by volunteers. The work is varied
and covers such aspects as the clearance of paths and rides, the building of dead hedges and dry
stone walls, or tackling invasive species such as ragwort or sycamore.

Often, the activities are carried out by work parties, organised by the Wildlife Trust to visit the
site as a group on a specific day, mid-week or weekend. In Peterborough, the Trust organises what is
referred to as the 'mid-week team'. This normally meets on a Wednesday, and visits various reserves
to carry out maintenance tasks under the direction of the Trust. If you are interested in undertaking
volunteer work with the Trust, you can contact the Trust using the information detailed under
'mid-week volunteer team' on the 'Contacts and Links' page of this web site. Alternatively, if you
would like to be kept informed of planned volunteer activities specifically at the Sulehay Nature
Reserve, you can contact us - see 'SVG' on the 'Contacts and Links' page.
The Wildlife Trust is also organising groups of volunteers to undertake wildlife survey and
monitoring activities at various wildlife sites, and training sessions are provided by the Trust.
If you are interested in this aspect of volunteering, or would like further information on the other
ecology groups organised by the Wildlife Trust, use the contact information for the Wildlife Trust
(Cambs or Northants) on the 'Contacts and Links' page.
